— Our Approach

Your Home Should
Work for You

When your storage falls short, your space starts to feel chaotic. Closets overflow, surfaces fill up, and the room meant to help you relax does the opposite. It’s not a cleaning problem – it’s a design problem.

At Famille Closets, we fix that with custom storage systems built around how you live. No generic layouts – just thoughtful designs that give every item a place and bring order back to your space.

It starts with a free in-home consultation. We come to you, assess your space, take precise measurements, and understand how you use it day to day. From there, we design together – exploring layouts, finishes, and features that match your style and routine.

You’ll see a realistic 3D preview before anything is built, so you can visualize the final result and refine every detail with confidence.

Once approved, we handle the rest – bringing your design to life with precision, quality materials, and a clean, professional installation.

What makes a Famille closet “true custom”?

A true custom closet is designed around your measurements, your wardrobe and how you get dressed, then built to fit that space with no standard sizes and no filler panels. Every hanging rod, drawer and shelf is placed where you’ll use it, not where a pre-sized box happens to land.

That starts with custom closet design, not a catalogue. Our designer measures the room, asks what you own (long dresses, suits, 40 pairs of shoes, a pile of hoodies) and lays out a system around it. The closet systems are Canadian-made, and our team installs them in your home.

How is a custom closet different from an IKEA PAX or a big-box kit?

A kit is built from fixed-size boxes, so it fits your closet only as closely as those sizes allow. A custom closet starts from your walls, so it fills the whole space, including sloped ceilings, bulkheads and odd corners.

Kits are a fair choice for some people. IKEA’s own listing shows a PAX frame is 50 cm wide, 58 cm deep and 236 cm tall: set sizes you plan your closet around. That works in a rental or a quick fix. It’s harder in a walk-in with a window, a reach-in with a bulkhead, or an older Edmonton home where nothing is quite square.

Is it cheaper to build your own closet system?

Yes, a DIY or kit closet usually costs less up front, because you’re paying for materials and doing the design and installation yourself. You’re also taking on the measuring, the assembly and the risk that it “almost fits”.

Our 2026 custom closet cost guide puts IKEA PAX-style systems at roughly $500–$2,000 for materials, plus your time. If that’s the right call for your space, go for it. If you want it designed, installed and warrantied, that’s what we do.

What custom closets do we design?

We design walk-in closets, reach-in closets, wardrobes and kids closets, plus pantries, mudrooms, laundry rooms, garages, home offices and Murphy beds. Each closet is planned around the room it’s going into and the person using it.

How much do custom closets cost in Edmonton?

Most reach-in closets cost $999–$2,999, and most walk-in closets cost $2,999–$9,999+, depending on size, layout, finishes and accessories. You’ll get a fixed-price quote with your 3D design, before you commit to anything.

Here are our published ranges:

  • Reach-in closet: $999 – $2,999
  • Walk-in closet (standard): $2,999 – $4,999
  • Walk-in closet (premium): $4,999 – $9,999+
  • Full-home package (3+ spaces): $9,999+

Installation is free, and 0% financing is available through Financeit. The cost guide walks through what moves a project up or down the range.

Are custom closets worth the money?

A custom closet is worth it if you plan to stay in the home for a few years and your current closet wastes space or doesn’t fit how you live. It’s built once, covered by a lifetime warranty on wooden components, and designed so it’s the last closet you’ll need.

What happens after I book a design consultation?

You meet a designer in your home or at our west Edmonton showroom for 30–60 minutes, and we measure the space and talk through what you need. Within 24–48 hours you get a custom 3D design and a fixed-price quote, with no obligation and no pressure.

From there:

  1. Consultation — in-home or showroom, free.
  2. 3D design and quote — within 24–48 hours.
  3. Revisions — change anything until it’s right.
  4. Installation — typically 3–4 weeks after you approve the design, by our own team, who clean up completely when they’re done.

This is a conversation, not a sales pitch.

Who designs and installs your closet?

Our own designers and our own installation team do the work: no subcontractors, no franchise call centre and no commissioned salespeople. Famille Closets is family-owned and locally owned, with 8 years in the closet industry and 57 five-star Google reviews.

Famille is the French word for family, and it’s how we run the business. We’re members of the Association of Closet & Storage Professionals and the Better Business Bureau, and an authorized dealer of Organizers Direct Industries. If we find a defect in a component, we point it out and replace it. We don’t install it.
